DRUM PROGRAMS FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS AND WEE PEOPLE



Why Music for the "Wee" Ones?

1. to promote & experience the ENJOYMENT of MUSIC and music-making with others.
2. to expose children to NEW LEARNING EXPERIENCES using music.
3. to expand childrens' perceptions relating to sound, listening, movement, LANGUAGE and INSTRUMENTS.
4. to enliven the childrens' world and expand their horizons through purposeful activities, CULTURAL INSIGHTS and INVOLVEMENT.
5. to nurture some BASIC SKILLS IN MAKING MUSIC.



Playshop Presentations

30 to 40 minute sessions - active music making for young children.

For children 2 and a half to 6 years of age.

Wide Variety of Themes used ( a sampling ):

  • "Seasons" : Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall.
  • "Weather" : Sunshine, Rain, Snow.
  • "Animals" : On the Farm, In the Forest, At the Zoo, Sea Creatures, Pets.
  • "Food" : Vegetables/the Garden, Fruit/the Orchard, the Bakery Shop.
  • "Safety" : Traffic, Water, Hallowe'en, Home.

  • Activities & Musical Play

    Activities include :

  • Songs, Rhymes, Chants, Rhythmic Activities.
  • Movement, Finger Play, Actions/Mime, Singing.

  • Exposure to a variety of MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS:
