Statement of Faith
This church accepts the scriptures as it’s authority in all matters of faith and practice. Its understanding of Christian truth as contained in the Scriptures is in essential accord with other Baptist churches affiliated with the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec (B.C.O.Q.), but it has no statement of creed apart from the New Testament.
Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour: and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
1)Our duties before God: We endeavour to cultivate the devotional life, both individually and in public worship. We will seek to rear our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and seek the salvation of our kindred and aquaintances. We also commit ourselves to seek to walk in personal obedience every path upon which the Lord may set our feet.
2)Our Duties to One Another: We commit ourselves thereforee, with the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love, to watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember each other in prayer, to aid each other in sickness and distress, to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech, to be slow to take offense, always ready for reconciliation, and in all things mindful of the teaching and example of our Saviour.
3)Our duties to the church: We also engage to strive for the advancement of the Church in knowledge, holiness, and service, we will promote its prosperity by our giving and it’s spirituality by our living. We will sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines by our attendance and participation. We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the Ministry, it’s expenses and it’s mission throughout the nations. We also agree that when we move away from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other Church, where we can carry out the spirit of this COVENANT, and the principles of the Word of God.
4)Our duties to the World: We also commit ourselves to live as Christ’s witnesses in the world. We understand this to mean being just in our delaings, faithful in our commitments and exemplary in our moral and ethical choices. We committ ourselves to a proper zeal in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Saviour, both individually and as a congregation in concert with other believers of our own persuasion.
