The OSA has introduced a structure to maximize the development potential of youn players in Ontario from grassroots trough to Provincial and National team selection.

A pyramid of play has been formulated as - CLUB, DISTRICT, REGIONAL PROVINCIAL NTC

Responsibilities

Skill development program for 10 years of age and younger

Identify and develop 11-12 years of age

Identify and develop 12-13 years of age

Identify and develop 13-14 years of age

Identify and develop 15-17 years of age

CLUB LEVEL

Age 11

Players aged 11 will be scouted by the District Coach in their club environment. Scouting will take place between May and August.

A District Team ID camp will be held in September where the best players will be chosen by the District Coach.  The District team practices 2-3 times per month

DISTRICT LEVEL

Age 12

District teams are selected from club programs and will practice 2-3 times per month. The district coach is the Head Coach of the District Team

Inter-District competition should take place during July - August. The best players from the Inter-District competition will be chosen to participate in than October Regional ID camp

The Regional team will be chosen at the Regional ID camp by the Regional Coach

REGIONAL LEVEL

Age 13

The Regional Coach will select the Regional Team at the end of Regional ID camps.  The new Regional team will practice 4-6 times per month.

ALL REGIONAL TEAM PLAYERS MUST HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE DISTRICT PROGRAMME. THE 'DOOR IS NOT CLOSED' ON ANY PLAYER WHO DOES NOT MAKE IT TO THE REGIONAL TEAM. HE/SHE MAY BE INVITED, BY THE REGIONAL COACH, TO TRAIN WITH THE SQUAD.

REGIONAL TEAMS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE SEPTEMBER PROVINCIAL ID CAMP AT THE SOCCER CENTRE IN VAUGHAN

PROVINCIAL LEVEL

Age 14

The best players from the September Provincial ID camp will be chosen to train as Team Ontario. Provincial U14 program begins in Octover and works toward preparing players for the National-All Star Championship the following July.

The Provincial team will train 8 times per month

NTC

Age 16+

The best players in the Provincial Player Development Program will progress to the NTC program.  The NTC players practice 12 to 16 times per month.
