Optimist Childhood Cancer Walk

Optimist International

The Golden Walk
June 2005
(Goldie's do anything for Kids)

Okay we're ready to do our part!
How long do we have to sit here and pose?
There was young and old willing to do their part
Even brother and sisters
Emma and Sparky

Some even met their long lost siblings My Tara and her brother Quincy. Who haven't seen each other since they were 6 weeks old (now 7 years)
(Tara on the left, Hubby in the middle and Quincy on the right)

The day was soooo hot, about 90°, so we all got to take a drip in the boat launch
Wow it felt so good
After a big walk it's time for a boat ride
Then a nice little nap.  What a day!

FYI

About Childhood Cancer
Childhood cancer is rare, about 1 in every 600 children develop cancer before the age of 15 - still relatively little is known about it's causes. Childhood cancer is not a single disease - there are many different types. Compared with adult cancers they tend to have different histologies and occur in different sites of the body. Common adult cancers such as lung, breast, colon, and stomach are extremely rare among children. On the other hand some types of cancer are almost exclusively found in children, especially embryonal tumors which arise from cells associated with the foetus, embryo, and developing body.
