FRIENDSHIP
Friendship is not merely an acquaintance with someone
I have many acquaintances who are not friends
Friendship is not casually knowing someone for a long time
I have known many people, for many years,
But would not choose all of them to be my friends.
Friendship is a meeting of minds and spirits
profound
with no explanation for that bond that grows
as we bare our souls
open our hearts
relax in the comfort of knowing
that someone is there for us
through trials and triumphs
tears and laughter
good moods and bad.
Friendship is throwing caution to the wind
setting aside pretense
allowing ourselves to be vulnerable
knowing that we'll be accepted for who we are
not what we seem to be at first glance.
Friendship is agreeing to disagree
knowing that though we may not always think alike
we need not fear reprisal
if we express our true and deepest feelings.
Friendship is the ultimate result
of honest sharing
of true caring.
Friendship, TRUE Friendship,
Is what I feel
When I think of you.
