FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - re THE COMPLETE ECHOES V1-10

HIGHLIGHT1   2

Q: 17 Sep 2005 Will the BIRDSALL CLAN be included in TCE ?

Answer - Yes - TCE will include all of the known BIRDSALLs - plus MANY MORE not yet published - if you are interested in details, contact us.

Q: June 2005 - Who is paying for this ??

Answer - Just recently, Kathy 199 and Fred 198 Cook donated $5000.00 from their savings to begin to finance the pre-publishing work (which needs $$$s and many more) - so we can continue moving towards publishing if and when we get the necessary 200 pre-paid orders - THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Q: 2 Oct 2003 Who will profit from these sale; what is the anticipated profit to the Andrew Cook Genealogical Society (acgs).

Answer - Since we are an incorporated "not-for-profit" society, we cannot profit from our operations. The sale price of these productions is calculated to just clear the anticipated cost of producing and distributing. Obviously the cost of the 50 set allocated to libraries and legal requirements (which are at no cost to the organizations) must be recouped from the other 200 sets.

Q: 2 Aug 2003 Who will receive a set of Echoes Vol 1 & 2, with their order for Vol 4 to 7, THE COMPLETE ECHOES?

Answer - Due to a donation - on this date from KATHY 199 & FRED 198 COOK - ALL of the 200 individuals and the 50 library reserves will receive a complete set - Vol's 1 to 10 - ie 10 volumes. We hope that is worth $200.00 Canadian per 10 volumes, ie $20.00/volume. (This amounts to $14,100.00 CAN donation from Kathy & Fred Cook)

Q: 5 Mar 2003 What will be included in these volumes?

Answer - See More Notes here.    Also see HERE

Q: 5 Jan 2003 Can we make part payments ?

Answer - Yes - part payments of $20.00 CAN or more will be accepted - interest free - these funds are held in a non-interest bearing trust account.

Q: 5 Jan 2003 Will these volumes include the SHOD (Somerville, Heatherington, O'Brien, Doige) Branch lines data?

Answer - Yes - this will be the first publication of all these lines and it will include the Archival Picture Library and the Virtual Cemetery along with all the other items mentioned here.

Q: 3 Jan 2003 Why are you collecting pre-paid orders, before you publish?

Answer - We need 200 pre-paid orders to begin production - because, we are still in debt for the Vol 1-3 project and the society Board of Directors will not authorize the production of Vol 4-10 until the money is received to cover the project costs.

As they say - We have good news and bad news.
The good news is, we have enough money to pay for this program.
The bad news is, it's still out there in our cousins' pockets...

Q: 2 Jan 2003 Why are you starting so soon to collect orders for these works - with a planned publication date of 2008 ?

Answer - Our experience with the publication of Vol 1-3 indicates that even with an early start (ie 5 years before publishing) still left us a decade later with a debt and volumes on the shelf for sale. The interest in Family History works is not sufficient to permit publication on speculation of later sales; and since the pricing is established just to clear the cost of production and distribution, we cannot retain any product in stock. If we do not get 200 pre-paid orders, we cannot publish; we are a registered not-for-profit society with no capital backing.

Also - when the requisite 200 pre-paid orders are received by 2005, we will need until 2008 to finalize the work (wrap it up - assemble - proof read etc - produce and distribute - a multitude of tasks)

Q: 1 Jan 2003 Will Vol 1-3 also be included in the new Vols 4 to 10

Answer - yes - Vols 1-3 will be included in electronic form - completely searchable.
These will obviously be for archival purposes, since the data in them will
also be in Vols 4 to 10 and many times more new data. You should note also that the first 80 orders received will get a hardcopy set of vols 1&2 - the last available.

Q: 24 Dec 2002 Will they be completely DVD or CD -

Answer -  No - there will be a combination of Hard Copy (HC) - the conventional book format --- and electronic medium (DVD) - this is necessary to take advantage of current publishing techniques and the intended content
 - ie the Archival Picture Library (presented in slide show fashion)
-- the software (computer program) to produce the reports mentioned here
and to begin to post your own data
and The Village Virtual Cemetery - just to site a few.

Q: 2 Dec 2002 Will "The Complete Echoes" be available on CD or DVD?

The printed version is likely to be bulky?

Answer - Yes - completely searchable - readable in "Book Readers" and on computers - lots of reports, both on-screen and printable; in fact any page can be printed --- etc. - the Book Reader software will be included and a genealogical software package, so that each cousin can begin updating their own family data [hopefully they will continue to be inclined to keep their society (acgs) informed, as they update their own data] -
-- there will also be a hard copy introduction/information/instruction Booklet
----  as further described in the Notes also here
