YouthFlightCanada is a registered Canadian Charity. Its mandate is to promote aviation education for youth.
YFC was founded by Cam Stableford in 1995 and has made the magic of flight available to thousands of disabled
and challenged kids across Canada. Charitable donations by corporations and the public support YFC. With their help,
we've been able to inspire and motivate about 3,000 deserving young men and women through our flight programs.
In 1999 YFC began programs for young glider pilots. For them, the YFC Soaring Bursary provides subsidized flying
time while they're students. The Bursary program is being expanded among Canadian glider clubs.
Starting in 2001, YFC will support the Ryerson Student Soaring Society and will train 24 students at York Soaring near Toronto.
The volunteers of YouthFlightCanada want to share more than their passion for flying. They want to help young Canadians - including
the disabled and challenged - to appreciate the reasons behind the rules that govern flying, to learn responsibility and teamwork,
to develop self-discipline and self-esteem. In other words, to become better citizens and discover ways to return something to their community. |
