La Cabana - Acapulco at Playa Caleta! By Fred Meulemeester

This cozy eatery has impressed visitors and locals with its fresh seafood since the 1950s. Here you can enjoy the traditional Mexican cuisine, the house specialty. The steaming seafood casserole and curried shrimp sautéed in garlic and sea salt also win raves. Non-seafood eaters will enjoy feasting on chicken tacos. Come dressed casual to smart-casual attire.

I can remember the La Cabana ever since I first visited Acapulco in 1985. Back then it was not much to look at but now it is very impressive with great food and relaxing place to sit. I have not eaten at the La Cabana as in most cases if we visited Caleta Beach we would get the beach boys, Toni and Nachos to serve us. I can remember getting the best seafood, usually Red Snapper and Papa's (French Fries) right there on the beach.

This year (January 2006) we will definitely try out the La Cabana as it comes highly recommended by my good friend Max as he now eats there when he visits Caleta Beach.

Max tells me that the place has been completely renovated again since we were there. So, I will let you know a little more on the place when I get back from our vacation in January 2006.

In the mean time have a look at their website at lacabanadecaleta.com
