We'd
love a mural, but can't decide on an image?
Start with things you love, gardens, vacations, animals, nature,
cars, sports, etc. We can help you with ideas. Creativity is our
business! Every mural is different as we incorporate personal
things that mean something to you!
How
long does a job take?
It all depends on what it is, a faux finish, mural, trompe
l’oeil etc. How intricate the design is, the type of
application and techniques. A mural without much background
detail for a child's
room may be done in a day. An initial free consultation will help
determine a time line.
What
rooms are the most popular for murals?
A mural can go where ever you want it to go! But our most popular
requests are for children's bedrooms and play rooms. Tub
surrounds are becoming a wonderful escape, and detailing in the
bathroom. Front entrances are a super spot as there often aren't
large pieces of furniture in that area to block the view of the
mural. Dining rooms are also a stunning location for murals.
Artwork can go anywhere. We've even done several garages!
Are
you able to work in high areas?
Yes, we have a full range of ladders as well as our own
scaffolding. Although some spaces are more awkward to get to,
most are manageable. For any that are impossible, a design can be
painted on canvas and put up that way.
What
type of paint do you use?
We use Benjamin Moore Paints. Its a high quality paint providing extreme
durability and completely washable. It is also dry to the touch
with in hours! So your home can be back to normal fast. For
furniture we use oil paint as it provides the best finish for the
wear and tear furniture endures. Exterior paint is used for
outdoor projects.
Will
paint get on my carpet, sofa etc?
Desorcy Designs is completely professional. All areas are covered
in heavy drop clothes to protect carpet, flooring and furniture.
We are cautious and take care while working. In all our years
we've never ruined carpet, etc.
Will
you work weekends?
Yes. Obviously we prefer, like anyone else, to work Monday to
Friday. But we are very accommodating to our clients and aim to
please!
Do
I have to be home while you paint?
Its up to you. Some people enjoy checking in on our progress.
While others obviously can not take time off. We are
professionals, your home will be safe with us!
What
do you use as sources for your painting?
Books, books and more books. We research what we are painting and
have several examples of whatever we are painting to refer to.
Who
does the work?
Jennifer does the faux finishes. Carla and
Jennifer will probably both be working on your mural thus
allowing your home to be back to normal in no time!
Will
you travel?
Yes. Some place tropical please! Oh not that far, darn! :)
We do the majority of our work in a 2 hour radius. Sometimes gas
money arrangements are required. Please inquire if this applies
for you. If over night accommodations are required, that will
also be the added to the price.
How
much does it cost?
It all depends on the job. See our Pricing page for more information regarding cost.
Note: a child's room with a few large animals can cost as little
as a couple hundred. If you've checked the price of wall paper
recently, you know its expensive! And wall paper is all
repetitive! Our painting job will be unique, personal and a much
talked about focal point for your home or business!
